Sander van Doorn - Supernaturalistic

Heavily touring and producing has assisted relative newcomer Sander van Doorn expedite his rise to the top. He is responsible for giving dance music a kick up the proverbial back end in 2007 with his relentless delivery of immaculate productions that catered for an entire cross section of music aficionados the world over. ‘Riff’, ‘Grasshopper’ and ‘By Any Demand’ should ring bells for those that spend their weekend time on dance floors, if not, here is the opportunity to become familiar with the newest addition to electronic music’s elite.

‘Supernaturalistic’ is Sander’s debut LP, formidably built of 12 incredible stand alone tracks, with each & every one of them exposing another side to this dimensional producer. The above three track titles are included in this selection; giving the listener ample choice of rhythmic bass heavy tunes. It’s safe to say the album builds, as only Van Doorn knows how.

‘Look Inside Your Head’ provides the perfect introduction to the album. It’s a melodic, soothing trancey, and quite trippy start to the proceedings, thus giving us a taste from the outset of what this album might be, and is, capable of. ‘Pura Vida’, ‘Apple’, and in particular Sushi will appease the minimalists out there – sonically sublime in every way. ‘Lobby’ displays van Doorn’s versatile nature and demonstrates just how different he can be in terms of style - a kind of Massive Attack meets van Doorn we think. ‘The Bass’, which is Van Doorn’s next destroying single is a must for those who crave peak set dance-floor mayhem and has riffs which will remind some of a certain ‘French Kiss’ from not so long ago, and the track ‘Dozer’ provides the ultimate dose of techno-throbbing rave! And so finally we reach the end with ‘Outrospective’ which is Sander’s way of winding down the album to a perfect finish.

In summary, ‘Supernaturalistic’ is a well thought out and flawlessly delivered assortment of music from dance music’s hottest new property. The roots of Sander’s first excursion into artist album territory are both subtly and overtly embedded in trance. We are convinced it will be among the most talked and written about albums of this year, and we are sure you’ll be partaking in that process.
